Marvel at the breathtaking view of the Shiraito Waterfall. “Shiraito”, meaning white threads, perfectly describes this beautiful waterfall. This fall is selected as one of the greatest waterfalls of Japan. Iyashino-sato Japanese village stands on the site of a former farming village on the western shores of Lake Saiko. The village was reconstructed and reopened as an open air museum and traditional craft village where people can learn about the culture, try out and purchase different local handicrafts. Mt. Fuji’s past eruptions created multiple caves around the mountain’s base. The wind cave, with an average temperature of 37.5°F, was used as a refrigerator to store silkworm eggs and crop seeds.
