Emergency Evacuation Program

Emergency Evacuation Plan (EEP) is the ordered (mandatory) or authorized (voluntary) departure of civilian evacuees and nonessential military personnel from danger in an overseas country to a designated safe haven, typically within the continental United States. Overseas evacuations could occur under a variety of circumstances, including civil unrest, military uprisings, environmental concerns, and natural disasters.

It is required that each household with SOFA status civilians and/or dependents maintain an updated EEP packet, to include all single Airmen. For questions or concerns please contact the EEP Coordinator or Warden in your unit. If you don’t know who your Coordinator or Warden is, then please reach out to your sponsor’s Commander’s Support Staff (CSS) or First Sergeant.

How to Prepare

  1. Complete USFJ Standard EEP Packet.
  2. Be informed. Evacuees should maintain accurate and updated contact information with their unit.
  3. Families are allowed two pets (cats and dogs). Families with more than two will need to submit a Pet Family Care Plan to the veterinarian.
  4. Ensure pets vet records/vaccines stay up to date.
  5. Make an emergency communication plan in case family members are separated.
  6. Know who your EEP Warden is and discuss communication with your sponsor.
  7. Attend your EEP briefing.
  8. Continue to ensure your documentation is up-to-date and reach out to your EEP Coordinator or Warden with any questions or concerns.

To be fully prepared for any emergency, your family should have one or more emergency kits that include enough supplies for at least three days, including food supplies for both the family and pets. Every family member is allowed one 66 lb. suitcase.

What to Do During an Evacuation

  1. Stay tuned to 374 Airlift Wing Public Affairs announcements and American Forces Network (AFN) broadcasts for instructions.
  2. Be prepared to leave without your sponsor. Wardens will assist.
  3. If an evacuation is ordered, report to the nearest assembly point as quickly as possible.
  4. Take your EEP folder and all vital documents to stay with you at all times.
  5. Leave with the expectation that you will not return.
  6. Cooperate and comply with EEP personnel.
  7. Remain calm and be flexible.
  8. If able, assist other evacuees who need help.
