Sunshine City is Tokyo’s first “city within a city.” It features a variety of shops and restaurants, an aquarium, a planetarium, a museum, and indoor theme parks, as well as the Sunshine Prince Hotel. Sunshine Aquarium occupies the top three floors of Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City office and shopping complex. It features approximately 80 tanks housing 37,000 fish representing 750 species. Notable exhibits include the Sunshine Lagoon, which holds 240 tons of water; the Jellyfish Tunnel; and the Sunshine Aqua Ring, where visitors can view sea lions, penguins, and other animals from below. Rare specimens include giant manta rays, large sunfish, and deep-water spider crabs, along with non-marine animals such as anteaters, snails, iguanas, flamingos, and a lemur.
